Irving's upcoming trial: a very different view

Here's an argument for keeping Irving in jail from the New Statesman. While I don't agree with its reasoning, I thought I should post it because so much has been written on the blog about the topic.

Prof. Lipstadt,

I don't understand how you can possibly support keeping Irving in jail. If you cherish the American ideal of freedom of speech, but support the prosecution of Irving, you are a hypocrite. You should be campaigning to have him freed. If David Irving is really a wacko, then nobody will listen to him. What are you so afraid of?

Tancred, Deborah has repeatedly said that Irving should NOT go to jail, and should be freed.

You should keep up with staff meetings.
